In Recent Annual Concerts Bangor Ladies Choir had the honour of Sharing the stage with International Stars The Celtic Tenors, Brian Kennedy, Phil Coulter, and North Downs own McClean family.
Bangor Ladies Choir Annual Concert 2014 was graced by the presence of world renowned Soprano Lesley Garrett. Lesley was amazing - her first half consisting of well know opera pieces and the second half with folk songs, shows stoppers and even her version of a well known Elvis Presley song. In 2013 James Huish and his Band brought a well loved bit of Swing and Jazz to the Annual Concert.
The Choir has performed with most of the Armed Forces' Bands in the United Kingdom, including the Band of the Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force, the Band of the Light Infantry, Royal Irish Rangers and Irish Guards and have also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many well known artistes, including Northern Ireland's outstanding Tenor and Les Miserables star, Peter Corry, the magnificent trio, the Celtic Tenors, the world's first Opera Band, the illustrious, Amici Forever and in 2006, world renowned Welsh Tenor, Aled Jones, the 3 Irish Tenors, and Celtic Divas. In 2009 international soprano, Hayley Westenra joined the choir on stage for their annual concert and 2010 saw UK Tenor, Jonathan Ansell [from G4 fame] take to the stage with the choir. The Choir also performed with Bath Male Choir, from the BBC Programme Last Choir Standing, during their choir weekend in Bath. These performances have provided the Choir with the opportunity of working alongside some of the most celebrated professional musicians and have allowed the Choir to finale with some of the best in their field.
The Choir has also performed in some magnificent venues over the years, including York Minster, Chester Cathedral, Wells Cathedral, Brussels and Antwerp Cathedrals, European Parliament Buildings both in Brussels and Strasbourg, the Virginia Beach Philharmonic Hall, USA, the Metropolitan Church and St James' Cathedral in Toronto, including our own wonderful local venues of the Waterfront Hall, Ulster Hall, Belfast City Hall. In July 2009 the choir also performed to International Delegates from the Sister Cities Conference in the Great Hall at Stormont Castle, hosted by the First and Deputy First Ministers. This was the first time in 63 years that the Conference had been held outside the USA and the beautiful setting together with the choir's performance provided a wonderful atmosphere.
The Choir also carry out numerous concerts, church services as well as extensive charity work and enjoy the opportunity of helping to raise much needed funds for local Charities and Church Organisations. Indeed in 2005 during their trip to Toronto, their concert helped to raise over $25,000 for two charities supported by Peel Regional Police Authority. The Choir are also available for weddings.
